PATT Foundation - What did YOU do today?

UN survey shows deforestation is responsible for emitting almost 20 percent of greenhouse gases – REUTERS

At Plant A Tree Today we can't completely reverse the effects of deforestation and global warming, but we can discover how planting trees can help to combat climate change, provide sustainable economic development for developing countries and poor rural communities, and reduce the effects of natural disasters. We can make a difference. See what the PATT Foundation (www.plant-a-tree-today.org) is doing in Thailand, Asia and the world here...

Forest Restoration and Sustainable Development in Ban Nong Muang
This project is funded by PATT through donations from our Carbon Free offset programme and individual and company tree donations large and small. It is undertaken in collaboration with PDA. It includes tree planting to restore a community forest on abandoned marginal land for the restoration of biodiversity, carbon sequestration and as a community resource. We will also implement training and capacity building initiative on sustainable forest management within the village, and establish a nursery managed by the youth committee. Funding will also be allocated for the establishment of a village cooperative micro credit bank, and additional programmes aimed at combating environmental issues, poverty, gender inequality, urban migration, and unemployment.
